Blue Monday

Good Morning to everyone.   Every morning when I awake, I look out my window to the east to watch the sun rise.    This morning I see a thick fog in the horizon.

I decide to make a mental note to type into the computer:  www.weather.com

The weather report is as follows:     The current temperature is 67 degrees, (feels like 67 degrees), Mostly cloudy, wind: From WSW at 3mph.  Through 3:00pm decreasing clouds with temperatures increasing to upper 70’s.

Speaking of clouds, it reminds  me of the animated movie , “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” that ranked  number 1 for it’s first two weekends of opening.

AREAS OF FOG WILL REDUCE VISIBILITIES IN SPOTS EARLY THIS MORNING…

AREAS OF FOG HAD FORMED OVERNIGHT DUE TO HIGH GROUND LEVEL MOISTURE AND LIGHT WINDS. AT 4:00 AM SOME OBSERVATION SITES REPORTED 1/4 MILE VISIBILITY… SUCH AS LEHIGH VALLEY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.

FOG WILL BE LOCALLY DENSE EARLY THIS MORNING. MOTORISTS ARE URGED TO WATCH FOR SUDDENLY LOWERED VISIBILITIES. USE YOUR LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS… AND WATCH FOR PEDESTRIANS AND BICYCLISTS.

THE FOG IS EXPECTED TO IMPROVE A COUPLE OF HOURS AFTER SUNRISE… BY AROUND 9:00 AM.

By the time I am writing this , it is 0:900 a.m. and it has improved.

Just two short weeks ago, on a Monday morning, our house was without electric power from the effects of Hurricane Irene.    That morning as I lie in bed in the darkness, I got up to look out the window at around 0:500 a.m. to look into the sky.   Since it was pitch black outside, the sky was full of so many brilliant stars.    The first thing that I became aware of was that I could see  the formations of constellations of stars.    Not that I knew anymore than “the Big Dipper” and the “Little Dipper”.   I’m the kind of person to look for the positive in any given situation.   I found my positive.  This is so exciting!!!! , that I asked my husband whom I had just woke up a little too early to get up and look at the stars.   That’s “Orion” , he said.   If only there was a way to record all of these beautiful stars that I could see from my bedroom window.    You see, the stars are always there; it’s just that with all of the streetlights the stars just aren’t visible here.  Alas, I will try to etch in my memory the beautiful scene of those stars.

Happy Monday

Happy Monday folks. I got up early to see the sunrise from my bedroom window, although it had already taken place, the sky was clear and cloudless and I could see the moon.

We have sweet gum trees in our yard and around the pathways of the neighbors. Normally, I think that they are an annoyance because when the gum tree’s pods fall they are scattered about and I find myself scuffing them out of the way.

With my camera, I capture the beauty of the tree and the pods hangings individually from the branches. Recently at the Philadelphia Flower show, an winning artist in craft design with plants had utilized three gum tree pods in a design form that won first place for that category. ( I’ll post that photo later).

One quarter moon waning, looking above the sweet gum tree.

Monday February 22,2010 Blue Monday & Mellow Yellow Monday

I look out my window and I still see snow.   It is about 12 days since the northeast had the Blizzard or Nor’easter and there is still plenty of snow on the ground.

Mellow Yellow Monday-my half of the banana.

“Why did you take this picture?,my husband said completely puzzled one day as he downloaded the photos.

I said, ” I wanted to capture an everyday moment.”   When I come down to the kitchen for breakfast , this is what I’ll find on the kitchen counter. Sharing a banana between the two of us for breakfast with our cereal.   By this time, he’s already left for work.

Blue flowers, a remembrance of springtime

Good Morning, today I’m linking up with Smiling Salley for Blue Monday.

http://smilingsalley.blogspot.com

Listen, closely with me.   I can hear the wind rush through the leafless trees, and the whistling sound that comes through the roof-top dryer vents.  In the midst of the winter, it’s raining here with a forecast for some flooding.  I don’t live near any rivers or streams.   Some roads may become flooded in low-lying areas.

This photo of spring or beginning summer.  It is in my parents backyard.  That’s an old picnic bench, what do you suppose these bricks are for.  Sometimes the neighbors outdoor cat sits under there.   There are several like these lining the small side  garden.  Does anyone know the name of these blue hued flowers?

Happy Blue Monday!
